Death by Silence

A room that knows no other voice,
Where clocks tick loud, their hollow noise,
Four walls press close like tightening chains,
No warmth to soothe the numbing veins.

Old eyes stare blank through window bars,
Past lives reduced to counting scars,
A muted scream—a soul erased,
Where years dissolve with bitter taste.

In care homes damp with loss and rot,
Where bodies linger, minds forgot,
No hands to hold, no ears to hear—
Just endless days that fester fear.

Young hearts ache too, though masked in pride,
No friend to walk, no kin beside.
They scroll for solace, clutch the screen,
Yet drown in cries that go unseen.

Loneliness bites with teeth unseen—
Its poison more than nicotine.
It feasts on hearts, it feeds on breath—
A phantom cloaked in living death.

But still, the cure lies close at hand:
A call, a walk, a shared demand.
Teach children how to truly see,
To bridge the gap where hearts might flee.

For those alone, one step to start—
A letter, song, a simple art.
In elder homes, a chance to care—
To touch, to speak, to just be there.

Loneliness kills where silence grows;
So sow connection, love in rows.
A human touch can mend the hole—
Let’s warm the world, from soul to soul.
