Rolph David

The Man I Could Never Be!

I walk through streets where laughter reigns,
Where shouts of sport and engines roar.
Amongst the crowd, I feel the chains,
A stranger here, forever more.

They speak of women, love, and pride,
Of victories in games they boast.
But in my heart, I turn aside,
For these pursuits don’t matter most.

The strength they claim, I wear with grace,
Courage and will are part of me.
Yet in their eyes, I find no place,
A man, it seems, I cannot be.

In solitude, I find my muse,
Contentment blooms where silence grows.
But questions linger, oft confused:
What makes a man? The world still shows.

Is it the fight, the urge to brawl?
Is it the charm that draws a crowd?
I’ve lived a life apart from all,
And still, I stand both strong and proud.

So let them judge, let voices rise,
Their standards shaped by whims of men.
For in this heart, I need not hide,
The truth is mine; I’ll stand again.

Accept the man that nature chose,
Defy the mold that holds you fast.
The world may scoff, but still, I pose—
A different kind of strength will last.
