Glory sinks into oblivion

Where once

mighty city walls stood
today the wind blows lonely
over sand dunes of weathered stones

and where 

kings immortalized themselves 
in dusty history books 
that no one reads anymore

and

heroes were acclaimed 
whose glorious names 
have long since sunk into oblivion

glory is now only 
a reverently exhaled breath 
over ruins and bones
