On Listening

Learn how to listen, Plato once declared,
And wisdom will grow where folly is aired.
For even the loudmouth and foolish disguise
Make truth shine brighter through obvious lies.

Consider Trump, whose daily practiced lies
Collapse by noon beneath attentive eyes.
His nonsense, repeated, trains the careful ear:
What’s false grows obvious; what’s true, more clear.

The fool may speak with confidence and flair,
Yet patient listening turns folly to care.
Each idle claim, each boastful, empty word,
Can teach the mind, if only it is heard.

So heed the noise, the chatter, the absurd,
And gather knowledge from what’s barely heard.
For wisdom thrives not only where truth is spoken,
But where deception leaves the mind wide-open.
