Dorsey Baker

The Man Who Slept By The Pool

He did'nt touch the water and  he didn't  let the water touch him; least not
the water that was in the pool.  He didn't like swimmers and they didn't like him!
I think it was because he couldn't  swim and they could.  They didn't like him
because they could swim and he could not!  I think  they were jealous of each other.
He'd watch them from his room.  Watching the children swimming in the pool below.
His brain would become clouded and his eyes would water with envy!  He hated  the
way they seemed to enjoy themselves, moving with ease through the water of the pool.
Then one morning he awoke! Looked out  of his window.  No one was swimming! Not
even the children! He looked down into the pool. No water was in the pool! That night
he slept by the pool.
