Tale of Romance
 
 
They met in the crowd of a noisy party.
Soon they chatted together, danced
and laughed lightheartedly.
When they found out that they loved the same
painters, writers, adored outdoor activities,
they started their hobbies together
discussing, arguing, learning.
Getting stuck sometimes they had to turn
to the beginning of the discussion
seeking a way to agreement or new theory.
They swam in the rivers and roamed the hills,
they took to skating and sleigh rides in winter.
 
One bright morning in spring
they suddenly stopped
in the middle of a sentence,
looked at each other intensely - and flushed.
An unfamiliar shyness spoiled the day,
something lurked, gnawing and aching.
The evening found them hot and happy,
the next morning exhausted and empty.
They parted.
They never met again.
