Here Comes Summer

The summer has arrived.
The flowers are all in bloom.
It’s a marvellous time for holidays
to dispel the winter gloom.

To stroll along a sandy beach
or sit beside a lake.
Casting pebbles into a pool,
watching the eddies break.

To walk deep into forest
on a lovely sunny day.
Observe the gentle beauty
of small creatures as they play.

To climb the highest mountain
and view the vast terrain.
With such panoramic beauty
your climb was not in vain.

To gaze down from the banks
of a gently flowing stream.
Hear the babbling of the waters.
All is tranquil and serene.

To walk together, hand in hand,
along a peaceful country lane.
Inhale the scent of new mown hay
to the musical refrain

Of a blackbird in the hedgerows
and the distant cuckoo call.
The staccato sounds of the magpie.
as he struts along a wall.

A visit to the farmhouse tearooms
where you settle down with ease.
Experience the delights and pleasures
of fresh cream cakes and teas.

All are pleasures to perfection.
They are part of our every day.
It’s the gift of nature to everyone,
so enjoy it while you may.
